CVE

CVE-2025-15273

fontforge: FontForge: Remote Code Execution via PFB File Parsing Stack-based Buffer Overflow (important)

DOCUMENTATION: A flaw was found in FontForge. This stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability occurs during the parsing of PFB (Printer Font Binary) files due to improper validation of user-supplied data length. A remote attacker could exploit this by convincing a user to open a specially crafted malicious PFB file, leading to arbitrary code execution in the context of the current user.

STATEMENT: This vulnerability is rated Important for Red Hat products as it allows remote code execution in FontForge through a stack-based buffer overflow when processing specially crafted PFB files. Exploitation requires user interaction, where a user must open a malicious PFB file. This affects FontForge as shipped in Fedora and Red Hat Enterprise Linux versions where FontForge is available.

MITIGATION: Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.
